Storyboarding practice - Californication

I have had a go at doing a storyboard for a music video, by using an already existing music video, Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. using a pre existing music video helps me under stand the way beats are used with the changing of scene.

Happy - M/V Textual Analysis

This music video is said to be the first ever '24 hours' music video. People can log on '24hoursofhappy.com' and they will have a different clip for every hour of every day. They also encouraged people to create their own versions of the video, and have it titled 'We are Happy from...' to get every place a version. This helped with the advertisement of the song and the video.
In the Happy music video, they use lots of clips of different people in different areas of LA dancing/lip-syncing to the song, making it seem that it is everyone's song, not just Pharrell's. The way its edited makes it seem to go smoothly from scene to scene.

M/V Textual Analysis - Queen

I have chosen to analysis Queen's We Will Rock You.

In the music video they show a lot of the genre characteristics of rock music. They play their own instruments such as guitars and drums. They also seem to be doing a 'live' performance in the video, which is what a lot of rock bands do.

There also are a lot of close ups of the singer and the of the other band members. This shows that the record label could have included these to keep the focus on the band. The main singer has the most scenes and close ups for the durance of the video, because lead singers are seen as the main element of most bands.

The music video also has the notion of looking, for they are singing in some scene straight to us, the audience and they also point as if they can see us. They also use pronouns such as 'you' which can link this to another of Goodwin's features, the linking of lyrics and visuals.
